What are we doing here?

Just a few thoughts or considerations . . .
We, you & I, are here, alone together with keyboard & mouse.

Enjoyment, curiosity, boredom, casual browsing, or chance occurrence, whatever:
It's happened, you're 'here'. I hope you'll find your time not wasted in absorbing these ponderings...

Have you ever wondered about the places you go, or people you listen to, or things considered worthwhile or important?
No, probably not; it just happens...

-Just so you know... - This may not be a good idea. -
I tend to rant, ramble, or go off on complicated, yet poignant tangents, while trying to be clear & complete.

Call it an experiment. I'm just not sure I can say exactly what the hypothesis is; thus the results will not be absolute.

Passing of a dear man; John H. Broughton

As a young teenager, figuring out life in the midst of adolescent turmoil, there was a person who made things clear when everything seemed complicated.

Although I have lost touch in the passing years, he is still with me in many ways.

The world is a much better place since he was in it.

JOHN H. BROUGHTON (1939-2010)

John H. Broughton, 70, of Poynette, Wis., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010.

Born Oct. 31, 1939, in DeKalb, Ill., the son of Charles O. and Alberta (Riipi) Broughton, John married Joyce (Falon) Feltz on Oct. 30, 1992, in Portage, Wis.; they made their home on Lake Wisconsin.

John attended DeKalb schools as well as Kishwaukee College, and Northern Illinois University. He attained a Graduate Realtor Institute Designation in Peoria.

He was formerly a Realtor, as well as operating several businesses of his own. He retired from the auto business at age 55. He liked to refer to himself as "just a numbers guy." John's life-long passion was fishing. He founded DeKalb County Anglers Association and was its president until moving to Wisconsin. He owned and operated "Big John's Tank and Tackle" when Shabbona Lake opened. John was a custom rod builder, having sold rods worldwide. He also repaired and collected fishing reels. After moving to Wisconsin, he worked in a tackle shop part-time. He was also an avid eBayer. He enjoyed genealogy, crosswords, various crafts, woodworking, rod building and fishing.

John is survived by his wife, Joyce Broughton of Poynette; brother, Charles A. (Ellen) of Colorado Springs; daughter, Deborah L. Griffin of Morehead, Ky.; son, John C. Broughton of Flat Rock, Michy; three grandchildren, Brittainy and Hillary of Flat Rock, Michy, and Caroline of Staunton, Va.; and three nephews, Kevin, Eric and Greg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in DeKalb. The family suggests memorials to Fishing Has No Boundaries Inc. or to St. Jude's Hospital.
